You have a few options at your disposal if you’ve recently found a lost pet in Maricopa County.
First, check to see if the dog or cat is wearing a Maricopa County Animal Care & Control (MCACC) tag.
If it is, call 602-506-PETS and follow the prompts to retrieve the owner’s contact information.
Another option is to check to the MCACC stray animal map tool.
This map allows Maricopa County residents to actively post a location where a dog/cat was seen loose or where the animal was picked up from.
If you are able, take the animal to a local veterinarian or shelter and ask for the animal to be scanned for a microchip.
If the dog can be safely contained, call MCACC at 602 506-PETS and they will pick it up from your location.
Use this MCACC online form to report a stray.
Keep in mind that MCACC cannot pick up cats.
IMPORTANT! If you keep a dog or cat and care for it for six consecutive days or longer, the animal is no longer considered a stray by MCACC.
If after six days, you elect to surrender the animal to the MCACC, there will be a fee for intake.
